New beach in Town

THERE IS A NEW BEACH in Bridgetown. Literally.

Weeks after Barbados Port Inc. started dredging the build-up of sand at the mouth of the Careenage, the amount of sand appeared to be just as much or more.

Boat owners have expressed concern that the sand back was narrowing the entrance to the Careenage. Their concerns came after two visiting yachts suffered damage as a result of their captains not knowing the sand was just below the surface of the water.

A multimillion-dollar project to remove more than 4 500 cubic metres of sand is in place and is scheduled to be carried out by the construction company Infra Inc. (HLE)
