NICHOLLS BAKING COMBERMERE added yet another trophy to their crowded shelf when they captured their ninth BCA Everton Weekes Schools Under-13 Championship by defeating first-time finalists Frederick Smith by 14 runs at the Desmond Haynes Oval yesterday.

After the completion of a minute’s silence in tribute to the passing of famed cricket broadcaster and journalist Tony Cozier, Combermere, who were invited to bat, were dismissed in 34.1 overs for 142.

In reply, Frederick Smith posted 128 for nine in their allotted 35 overs.

Triumphant coach Keon Wiltshire praised the hard work of the players and regular coach Roddy Estwick, who could not be with the team due to his recent elevation to the position of bowling coach with the senior West Indies team. (AY)
