Combermere going after double

THE CHAMPIONS are looking to repeat and complete the double.

Combermere will look to defend their title when they face the Keith Boyce XI in the final of the tenth annual Lee’s Bistro Keith Boyce Memorial Cricket Tournament at Diamond Corner today.

The final comes days after Combermere clinched the Under-19 division of the tournament last Sunday by defeating Diamondshire.

The 35-overs-a-side match, which starts at noon, will feature several prominent players.

Lee’s Bistro Combermere will have West Indies Under-19 all-rounder Shamar Springer and Barbados fast bowler Justin Greaves.

Keith Boyce XI’s line-up includes St Lucia Zouks all-rounder Kyle Mayers and former Barbados players Rohan Nurse, Ryan Nurse and Khalid Springer.

In last Sunday’s semi-finals, Combermere defeated Shannon on a faster scoring rate at Diamond Corner, and the Keith Boyce XI beat Chris Dottin’s XI by 41 runs at Boscobelle.

Combermere, chasing 225 to win in 34 overs, were 220 for eight with one over remaining when bad light ended the game with the defending champions having a slightly better run-rate.

Shannon missed out on a place in the final despite an outstanding all-round performance by Barbados player Kevin Stoute, who scored 89 and took three wickets.

In the other semi, Kyle Mayers grabbed four wickets and scored 24 in a losing cause for Chris Dottin’s XI.
