THE TAXPAYERS OF BARBADOS should not be footing the rent bill of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB).
That’s the view of Minister of Commerce and Industry, Donville Inniss, who was speaking at the Democratic Labour Party’s St Philip West branch constituency meeting held recently at the Princess Margaret Secondary School.
Indicating that he had seen correspondence from CTUSAB expressing that they needed money from the Government, he said that he did not believe that the taxpayers of Barbados should be the ones hit with that burden.
“CTUSAB was doing well when they were located at the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) at Solidarity House. They (the Barbados Workers’ Union) pulled out from CTUSAB and unceremoniously evicted [CTUSAB] from Solidarity House, so they had to go find some other place to rent. Why should the taxpayers of Barbados be paying the rent for CTUSAB?” the outspoken minister asked. (RA)
