BLP staging nation-building exhibition

THE BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY has made a mark on history’s page and that cannot be left out of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Independence.

That was the sentiment expressed by members of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) yesterday during the launch of the Cornerstone Of Nation Building exhibition, which showcases the party’s contributions over the years.

The party recently started its own activities to celebrate Independence after claiming it had been excluded from the Independence Committee set up to organise commemorative activities throughout the year. 

During the launch at Speedbird House, Independence Square, several BLP officials, including general secretary Jerome Walcott and president of the St George South branch, Shanika Roberts-Odle, expressed their concerns over the party’s exclusion.  (LT)
