STUDENTS AND teachers of the Seventh-Day Adventist Primary School are caught between history and health.
The subject of their conundrum is the Silk Cotton Tree.
A mature one stands upwind of the Dalkeith, St Michael school and for the past three years, when its seed pods break open, the silk cotton fibres float downwind onto the compound. And when that occurs, the student body starts sneezing, wheezing and scratching.
But the tree cannot be cut, said principal Angela Bushell-Skeete, because Government officials said the Silk Cotton Tree has been designated as a tree of national importance. (HLE)
