TWELVE-YEAR-OLD St Michael School student Zane Maloney is the World Karting Association Manufacturers’ Cup Series champion.

He drove away with the title after making a clean sweep on the opening day of the championship in North Carolina recently. He returned on the second day to start from pole and picked up a win and two third places to wrest the title.

As a result, the new champion will be heading to Glendale, Arizona, for the seventh annual SuperKarts USA (SKUSA), starting with the Spring Nationals from April 29 to May 1.

He collected a winner’s prize of US$500 and will be among a strong field of some of the best youngsters in Arizona later this month.
