ANOTHER CROP THIEF

LAWMEN APPEAR TO be tightening the noose on those involved in the burgeoning problem of crop theft as another culprit was hauled before the courts for stealing agricultural produce yesterday.

Grantley Dacosta Thorpe, 52, of Valley Land, St George, will be behind bars on remand at HMP Dodds until Friday after appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch and pleading guilty to stealing 105 pounds of sweet potatoes worth $262 from Carrington Estates Limited, St Philip on April 11, 2016.

He also admitted stealing 20 rods of the same crop valued at $500 from Constant Plantation between March 8 and 9 and is expected to be sentenced on Friday
