DARREN SAMMY’S controversial remarks after the World Twenty20 final continue to attract strong condemnation and equally solid support.

While West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) vice-president Emmanuel Nanthan described the comments as irrelevant, demeaning, insulting and unfortunate, former West Indies captain Sir Vivian Richards and Sammy’s teammate Dwayne Bravo gave the successful West Indies captain a huge vote of confidence.

Additionally, Bravo dismissed WICB president Dave Cameron as immature while taking another swipe at the WICB.

After West Indies pulled off a sensational victory over England in Sunday’s final in India, Sammy expressed disappointment over what he termed as a lack of respect from the WICB and a lack of support ahead of the final. (HG)
