FORMER Motoring Club Barbados Incorporated (MCBI) champion driver Josh Read did the double at Spring Blaze 16 from Diamond Corner to Gays, St Peter, last weekend.

The double-header, organised by the Motoring Club and shared with the Barbados Rally Club, was the curtain-raising event of the road season, where drivers were allowed a practice run in both directions and three timed official runs.

After producing the fastest time in the practice run, Read, driving a Toyota Starlet showed that his performance then was no fluke.

He returned the fastest times over the long and sometimes twisty course, with the best being one minute, 15.34 seconds recorded on his third turn over the course.
