Water break for residents

THE CHEERS that greeted the white truck were similar to those reserved for a favourite sports team.

But the truck was carrying bottles of water and those cheering were water starved residents of Vaughan Land, No. 2, St Joseph.

“I didn’t expect this kind of response,” said David Davis, as residents declared: “You all make my morning; my day” and “Wunna will be blessed.”

Davis, his friends Sherwin Straker, Anderson Blood Armstrong, Daniel Norman, Shirley Stewart and Pedro Straker had driven into the hilly St Joseph neighbourhood moments after residents had revealed their frustration to a SATURDAY SUN team about not having had water for the past two weeks. (HLE)
