CHRIST CHURCH FOUNDATION created track and field history, dethroning perennial queens, Scotiabank Springer Memorial to win their second girls’ title in PowerAde Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships at the National Stadium, yesterday.

Foundation, whose only previous BSSAC title was 27 years ago in 1989, finished with 336 points, 59 more than Springer, who had to settle for second place on 277. The St Michael School (242.5) overtook Harrison College (235.5) to take third position.

It was the first time in 13 years that 16-time queens Springer had lost the girls’ time after Combermere were the last school to break their reign in 2002.

What made Foundation’s triumph even more remarkable was that they overcame a deficit of 185 points from last year when they were third behind Springer and The St Michael School.
