THE FREUNDEL STUART Administration is still struggling to bring its spending down.

As Government laid its 2016-2017 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure in the House of Assembly yesterday, the document showed that state spending was on the rise and projected to reach $4.39 billion in the financial year starting April 1.

Spending on wages and salaries is to increase by $17.8 million and expenditure on goods and services by $106.9 million, while current transfers to state agencies should drop by $88.2 million.

The current financial year, the spending would represent a 1.6 per cent increase on the $4.33 billion approved for 2015-2016 year.
