PUPILS of Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School traded in their uniforms for colourful, traditional African garments recently.
Co-ordinator of the school’s African Awareness Day celebrations, Heather Cave, said when the activities first started, only the Reception and Infants A classes participated but now the numbers had grown with the addition of Classes 1 and 2.
“Each year they are becoming more and more aware and I find that the groups are getting bigger and bigger,” she said.
Cave applauded the efforts of teachers and parents who assisted the students in putting together their projects that centred around black inventors, pioneer in fighting against the slave trade, Harriet Tubman, and one of Barbados’ National Heroes, Bussa. (TG)
