BARBADOS HAS BEEN APPROACHED by the Commonwealth to be the hub for that organisation’s regional Youth Division.

This news came out of a recent courtesy call involving Minister of Youth, Stephen Lashley and Programme Manager of the Commonwealth Secretariat Youth Division, Sushil Ram.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Sky Mall, Lashley noted that Barbados had been approached by the Commonwealth Secretariat on the matter.

The Youth Minister highlighted the benefits that would accrue as a result of hosting the regional hub.

“We can leverage a lot of interesting programming options through that…What is left now is to get the approvals for it, but I think the possibilities and the benefits are great,” he Lashley stated.

Although such an offer was welcomed, the Minister said the Government of Barbados still had to go through the necessary procedures before a final decision could be confirmed.

Overall, Lashley described the meeting with the Programme Manager of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Youth Division, as a “productive” one. (BGIS)
