AT A TIME when all the focus is on a golden celebration, many members of the 31st constituency are angry and blue vex with the emissary. Some are saying that this individual is creating more strife rather than working to unite people.
The first thing gone bad is this insistence on honours.
In a land where not much is made of titles, this Bajan bigwig is insisting that the proper appellation be used.
Many people simply steupse and move on, saying the weather must be affecting the individual’s brain.
However, to make a bad situation worse, this person seems to want to take on another role. Yes, to be in charge of the 31st constituency.
But the people up north, who plan to have a very big presence in November, are planning to speak to all and sundry about the behaviour being exhibited.
They are insisting that the two roles are very separate and distinct and protocol dictates that the guidelines be followed.
While all favours may have been because of politics, service now must be to all fellowmen regardless of affiliation.
Contract jitters
AS THE CURTAIN DRAWS NIGH on the month of love, at least one man is nervous to see whether the coming month will be his Ides of March.
He is anxiously waiting to see whether the contract that offers $15 000 a month will be renewed.
This chief in charge, who has developed a reputation for cancelling meetings at short notice as well as only spending ten minutes a day at his desk, is looking to his friend to come through for him once again.
The tall individual only recently drove a jeep provided by the taxpayers without oil and as a result had to use a hired car at the Treasury’s expense.
The situation has so infuriated staff that they say they are fed up with people making mock sport of things day after day. They have vowed not to attend any more meetings with the tall one, who is known for not having anything on his desk.
All this takes place as those who should really be responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation simply wait around to take orders from a higher authority.
Boardroom bust-up
THERE SEEMS TO BE some disquiet in the boardroom of one of Barbados’ most important Government bodies.
And fingers are being pointed at one particular individual who has been at the forefront of some controversial decisions that have ended up in the High Court.
Inside sources also suggest that the individual causing the storms, a previous member of a particular entity, has been persuading his fellow members to strike back at protesters by not approving any improvements in their job status.
However, the man at the helm of the particular entity says he’s tired of taking orders and has promised to take his case to his bosses.
Worrying numbers
IF THE INDICATIONS of a recent announcement are right, then some diehards want a fresh guard and a fresh approach.
Concerned, however, about certain dwindling numbers, the suggestion is that an unbiased new team of advisors should be brought on board to guarantee a place in the winner’s enclosure.
One longstanding member is also worried that the current perceived image might very well hurt any chances.
These concerns might very well result in a full-scale meeting at which these messages would be fully ventilated.
