PLANS TO have an equestrian week are on the books for the near future.
At a press conference yesterday to announce the upcoming Cheshire International Polo Tour running from Sunday until March 6, president of the Barbados Polo Club, Wayne Archer, said the tour had always been strategically set to coincide with the Sandy Lane Gold Cup.
Archer said he had already been having meetings with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) and he was hopeful that plans for the week could soon be put in place.
“We have had talks with the BTMI not so long ago about the equestrian week and we are still in talks with them. Mr (Ken) Ramsey, who has won the Gold Cup, has attended the final day and has brought his Gold Cup to show off to the public here,” he said.
