The AMBER light is on, awaiting the green for construction of a multistorey Hyatt hotel on Lower Bay Street that will transform the Bridgetown landscape.
One of the principals involved in the project, businessman Mark Maloney, told the Midweek Nation yesterday the developers were “working on the Government’s regulatory processes” and “hopefully, any day now we will be able to get the go”.
The near 200-room hotel/condominium complex with restaurant, conference facilities and shops, is to go up on a prime site that formerly housed the Harbour Police Station and Detco Motors, on “the finest beach in Barbados”, according to Maloney.
It will give Barbados its first downtown hotel and Maloney anticipates it will help to bring life back to The City.
