Bid for CPL final

BARBADOS is among three countries bidding to host the final of this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Seemingly invigorated by Indian business magnate Dr Vijay Mallya’s ownership of the Barbados Tridents’ franchise, CPL’s chief executive officer Damien O’Donohoe said the Barbados Government was vigorously pursuing the staging of the climax of “The Biggest Party In Sport” for the first time.

He further disclosed that should Barbados’ bid be successful, the final will be embellished by a special entertainment package to celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary of Independence, highlighted by international acts as the CPL, once the schedule is finalised, is likely to conclude around the same time as the annual Crop Over Festival in early August.
