UWI BLACKBIRDS were just too much for Rendezvous to handle when the two met on Sunday night in the Barbados Football Association’s Digicel Premier League at the Wildey Astro Turf.

The Blackbirds, desperate to avoid another big loss, defeated Rendezvous 2-0 on a cold, wet night at the Turf. Mario Harte scored in the 51st minute and Shamari Mark in the 66th.

DirecTV Paradise and the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme played to an exciting 2-2 draw in the evening’s first match. Paradise’s 16-year-old sensation Elijah Downey scored in the 29th and 67th minutes while Akeen Browne scored in the 83rd and 90th minutes for the soldiers.

The evening’s other match saw Weymouth Wales thrashing Lumisol Technology Inc. Pinelands 4-0. Kemar Headley scored a hat trick (10th, 36th, 88th minutes) while Hadan Holligan put the final nail in the coffin in the 90th minute.

After the third week of competition, Wales lead the table with six points. Empire Club are also on six points but have a goal difference of two compared to Wales’ six while BDFSP are currently third on four points. (PG)
