THE HAMMER is about to come down on people erecting signs and billboards illegally.
Deputy chief town planner George Browne confirmed to the DAILY NATION yesterday that the Town and Country Development Planning Office had issued enforcement notices against individuals and businesses found to have breached the department’s rules on signs and advertising.
He said the regulatory department was concerned about the growing number of signs being placed all over the island advertising all manner of goods and services.
Barbados has some of the strictest regulations in the Caribbean on the use of billboards and signs. And Browne made it clear: “If you want to put up a sign you need to apply to the office.
