SENIOR BANKER Ian De Souza is seeing the “green shoots” of Barbados’ economic recovery.
Addressing invited guests last night at his annual media mingle at Villa Rosa, Royal Westmoreland, St. James, the Republic Bank Barbados managing director and chief executive officer voiced optimism about the performance of the Barbados economy this year.
Echoing sentiments he shared at last year’s reception, De Souza said “we have a lot to be thankful for, we have gone through some difficult times, we have had to eat the austerity pills, which we did, but from what we are seeing now there are some green shoots there”.
“The sun is starting to shine on us a little bit more so let us be grateful for that, let us continue to keep working with each other to bring this lovely island that Barbados is around and put it on a path of sustainable growth that we could all benefit from as we go forward,” he said. (SC)
