A St Lucy family rocked by the brutal stabbing of a mother of seven is also reeling from having her baby taken from them.

Just hours before the Christmas holiday of joyous family gatherings all over the island, the Crab Hill family was grieving after Callie-ann Gill, 33, was killed on Wednesday night. She left behind children ranging from 11 years to four months.

Police are questioning a man linked to the family in connection with the death which occurred at Niles Road, Farm Road, St Peter, some time after 5 p.m. It is understood that she and the man were engaged in a bitter quarrel over the baby when the incident occurred.

The family’s grief was compounded when the Child Care Board moved in and took four-month-old Ellison into its custody hours after his mother died.
