THE RACES were certainly for those able to endure to the end.
There was no stopping Queen’s College, who had the stamina to run away with three wins in the 6×1000 metre relays at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School yesterday.
Queen’s College won the first form girls’ and boys’ divisions as well as the under-15 category.
The girls led the first form category from inception after Taletha Bartlett gave them a good lead. However, in the second leg, Springer Memorial closely trailed Alysha Mascoll before managing to overtake her.
But she regained speed, completing the leg strong before Jamie Branson dominated the fifth leg. It wasn’t without challenges as she had to stop on two occasions but pressed on with the support of her team to hand over to little Zuri Connell, who sprinted to the finish line for them to win the race in a time of 23 minutes and 24 seconds. Springer Memorial were second in 26.46 while Harrison College were third in 26.57. (RG)
