Docs hot over BRA request

NO CAN DO! That’s the position doctors have taken on the matter of obtaining tax clearance certificates from the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).

And it’s a decision that could lead to a full showdown between the country’s medics and Government’s controversial tax collection agency.

The SUNDAY SUN has been reliably informed that the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) has instructed its membership not to apply for tax clearance certificates pending further communication from the organisation.

That decision comes out of an emergency meeting BAMP held with its membership last Tuesday, in reaction to BRA sending word to the doctors’ body that members would be required to produce a tax clearance certificate from the agency if they wanted to obtain their licence to practise.
