FOUR LOCAL FOOTBALL clubs now face the possibility of not kicking a ball when the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) season starts next year.
Former top-flight league side Trents, as well as Orange Hill, Cave Hill Football Club and Shop Hill, were all denied a licence after failing to meet all of the requirements when the BFA’s first Club Licensing Programme closed recently.
A total of 84 clubs submitted applications for licences, with 80 being approved after three meetings of the First Instance Board, chaired by FIFA referee Trevor “Muslim” Taylor.
However, the BFA also made it clear in a Press release yesterday that the approval of a whopping 30 of these clubs is pending permission from the National Sports Council for the use of their playing fields as home venues. (EZS)
