PM, Mia’s call

PRIME MINISTER FREUNDEL STUART wants Barbadians to move from simply marking nationhood each year to achieving “real independence” by taking the lead in shaping their destiny.

At the same time, Opposition leader Mia Mottley is calling on “everyone” to band together to restore not only the “Barbadian ethos of pride and industry”, but also to recapture the island’s position as the No.1 developing state in the world.

Delivering his sixth Independence Day message as Prime Minister, Stuart declared that “hope is still very much alive in Barbados”, but for citizens to move to the next level, there had to be a significant change in mindsets. (BW)
