Owen on the attack

FORMER PRIME MINISTER Owen Arthur contends that embattled Christ Church West MP Dr Maria Agard is being “dragged through the mud of public disapprobation for doing nothing more than expressing herself about a matter concerning herself”.

Arthur came out with cudgel swinging yesterday, targeting Opposition Leader Mia Mottley, the leader of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP), with which he had been associated for over 40 years, in protest against Agard’s expulsion Sunday by its National Council.

Before going in to take his seat for yesterday’s sitting of Parliament, Arthur spoke at length to the media waiting outside, lashing out at Mottley for the way she had handled this and other BLP matters involving dissent by a member.  (GC)
