Pumping has resumed at the Ionics Freshwater Desalination Plant and affected customers can soon expect some relief.

The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) said residents and businesses in St Michael, St James and St Thomas that were recently impacted by water outages should see their supply gradually returning to normal as those sections of the network are showing signs of recovery.

Over the weekend, thousands of people were affected when the desalination plant went offline.

Many were forced to buy water or hunt for it at neighbourhood standpipes. They complained tankers were not being dispatched and took the BWA to task for poor communication.

The BWA apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience. (PR/SAT)
