A 16-YEAR-OLD RECORD was shattered as Harrison College retained their titles in both the boys’ and the girls’ divisions at The Plus Active Secondary Inter-School’s Swimming Championships at the Aquatic Centre yesterday.
“Kolij’s” victory was led by several dynamic athletes, including Luis Sebastian Weekes, who erased one of the oldest records set in 1999 by Olympian Andrei Cross in the 13-14 Boys’ 50 metre breaststroke in 31.14 seconds. Harrison College teammate Jumar Walrond (32.04) and Combemere’s Damon St Prix (33.96) came second and third, respectively.
The defending champs certainly had a fruitful championship, winning by identical margins of 139 points in both the girls and boys to beat The St Michael School in both divisions.
Kolij’s girls racked up 304 points to St Michael’s 165 and Queen’s College’s 126. And they were just as dominant in the boys’ after tallying 324 points while The St Michael had 185 and Queen’s College scored 143. (RG)
