DEAL WITH the violent crimes now! Otherwise, Barbados’ long-standing and proud reputation as one of the Caribbean’s safest tourist destinations could take a serious hit.
That call to Barbados’ law enforcement authorities is coming from president of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA), Sunil Chatrani. The tourism official believes the crime situation could have a long lasting effect on Barbados’ flourishing tourism product if it isn’t arrested right now.
“This is not good. This is not good at all for Barbados right now,” Chatrani said from Toronto, Canada.
He was bemoaning yet another warning by the United States’ Embassy for its citizens travelling to Barbados, warning of recent violent crimes, in addition to an upsurge of robberies involving the use of firearms.
