PRAYER IS NOT MAGIC!
That is the view of Archbishop of the West Indies Dr John Holder, who said he is always “wary” when people prescribe prayer to help in seemingly dire situations.
Holder, who is also Bishop of Barbados, was responding to a query as to whether the Anglican Church would heed the recent calls made by Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite for church leaders to go into the various communities, “where the vices are”, to pray for young people and help rid Barbados of the “spirit of wickedness” which has seemingly taken over the country.
Holder said the church prayed for the peace of the world at every service and that all the churches in the province were set in communities, and work was already being done at that level. (YB)
