BUT vows to press on

DESPITE THE MANY trials encountered by members of the Barbados Union of Teachers this year, they will continue to fight the good fight.

So said vice-president Richmark Cave in an address to launch their week of activities at the St Lucy Parish Church yesterday.

“We had some situations in the schools affecting our members and we have been trying desperately to get some of them solved,” said Cave.

He said that in addition to not getting a salary increase for some years, other challenges were health and safety in the schools, the recent proposal to allow children to take cellphones to classes and appointments of temporary teachers.
