ECONOMIST RYAN STRAUGHN was elected unopposed as the Barbados Labour Party’s candidate in Christ Church East Central last night.
The former Central Bank of Barbados employee was nominated by Jean Lovell and seconded by Omer Anthony during the election at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School.
He was backed by former BLP caretaker Desmond Sands, who said the issue is bigger than individuals.
Two people who had indicated interest withdrew from the race prior to the election. (WILLCOMM)
