SMALL ISLAND Developing States (SIDS) can be their own worst enemy.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, in addressing regional and international representatives yesterday, said a lack of co-operation among certain countries was retarding their progress.
“The absence of inter-island co-operation between this region is one of the most critical obstacles to be urgently addressed with respect to the implementation of the SIDS agenda and the post 2015 development agenda as well.
Stuart was giving the keynote address at the inauguration of the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. He said he was pleased the centre was now a reality as it showed a level of inter-island co-operation to combat the high cost of fuel in the Caribbean.
