KRISTEN LOPEZ won her battle with cancer.

The local fraternity was thrown into a state of mourning earlier this week after the former Bajan No.1 women’s player passed away suddenly but peacefully on Tuesday due to pulmonary issues with her lungs.

The tale is a very tragic and yet unexpected one, considering the 25-year-old Lopez appeared to have survived the worst after overcoming cancer in 2010 while spending the last five years in remission.

“We really felt we were going in a good direction, and we had plans to travel to England in November to see specialists to understand what was going on with her lungs,” explained Lopez’s father Sydney, a former player and current coach.
