AFTER LIVING in a house she called home on Bank Hall Main Road since birth, an 85-year-old woman was evicted yesterday, but remained upbeat and thankful for life.

Dorothy King, a retired schoolteacher who requires a wheelchair to get around, told the Weekend Nation that though she felt disappointed in the relative who was behind her forced removal, she was glad to be alive.

“This is unjust and almost unbelievable that [a relative], a little fellow that I raised, took to school and fed him and his father [would do this] . . . . It would make anyone feel you shouldn’t be kind to children,” she said.

King explained that the house belonged to her parents initially, and suggested “unjust” people were the reason she was out of a house and home today.
