SEVERAL OF horse racing’s elite owners, trainers, journeymen and equines rolled into Woodbine Race Track last Sunday, but when the track gates were closed, Barbadians Sir Michael Stoute and Patrick Husbands shone brightly alongside world No.1 jockey Ryan Moore.

Defending champion jockey Husbands stood firm to lead all riders on the day by landing a treble. However, the day’s spoils went to the team of Sir Michael, Moore and bay colt Cannock Chase, as they won the Grade I feature CAN$1 000 000 Pattison Canadian International Stakes over one mile and a half on the turf.

It was the second consecutive win in that event for Sir Michael which coincides with Moore’s hat-trick. Moore also won the CAN$500 000 E.P. Taylor Stakes over one mile and a quarter on the turf with Curvy.

Husbands opened the card with a win astride Jennifer Lynnette before winning the third race aboard Greatest Game. He later signed off the programme in the afternoon’s 11th race with a victory aboard Luckbealady Now.
