BARBADOS’ STRUGGLING ECONOMY would get some new life in it if only “traditional sectors” would take cultural entrepreneurs more seriously.
Managing director of e-Vision Concepts, Phil Phillips, himself a cultural entrepreneur, wants the business community to “come to the table” to “sit and talk more” with cultural industry participants.
He said this was necessary in the current climate where “we are complaining about the contraction of the economy, we are complaining about loss of jobs but we are not doing anything differently”.
Phillips, who advises regional and international entities in the areas of entertainment, intellectual property development, marketing and visioning, was participating in an International Business Week 2015 panel discussion on International Business: New Paths Forward. It was held Tuesday night at the Errol Barrow Centre For Creative Imagination and hosted by the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA).
