THIS COUNTRY’S best tennis player, Darian King, has pulled off his biggest win to date.
King caused a big upset on Monday when he defeated British number two Kyle Edmund in the first round of the ATP Tour Sacramento Challenger in California.
King, Barbados’ number one Davis Cup player, defeated Edmund 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 on what was a day of big upsets. Edmund is ranked 102 in the world and was seeded number two in the tournament. King is ranked at 205 in the world and this is the highest ranked player he has ever defeated.
Edmund earlier this year won the US$50 000 Binghamton Challenger and reached the semi-finals of the US$100 000 Aptos Challenger. He also had advanced to the final round of qualifying for the US Open in August.
