THE RURAL DEVELOPMENT Commission (RDC) continues to address its clients concerns with its Rural Rising series of workshops.
The latest one, entitled Reducing Profit Losses: Postharvest Handling, took place today in the RDC’s training room, Bridge Street, The City. It was conducted by Ministry of Agriculture extension officer Roy Clarke and co-ordinated by RDC field officer Osmond Harewood.
Clarke spoke to the around 20 gathered farmers, all part of the RDC’s loan scheme, about the right time to reap and proper storage, humidity and ventilation to reduce post-harvest losses.
RDC public relations officer Wendy Burke said it would be remiss of them as an organisation to offer a loan scheme and ignore when their clients had problems which in turn may affect their ability to repay. She said they offered workshops once a month in an effort to assist their clients to better run and manage their businesses. (CA)
