THERE WERE scenes of gridlock, stalled vehicles, the closing of some businesses, along with parents and children struggling to get home, as parts of St Michael were pounded by torrential rains and flooding yesterday afternoon.
And due to the flooding, St Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School in Richmond will be closed today.
In Kensington New Road, The City, water levels were almost shin deep, and some householders were forced outside in the rain to secure their vehicles that were forced off the road by the deluge. Some youngsters, though, turned it into playtime by using inflatable rafts and surfboards to move through the flooded streets.
In the adjoining Emmerton, some areas were a virtual swamp land while on Fontabelle some drivers were forced to ride the sidewalk to manoeuvre through the flooded streets.
