A YOUNGSTER ACCUSED of murder was remanded to HMP Dodds until October 16.
Chaudhri Antonio Gobin, a student of Long Gap, Spooners Hill, St Michael, appeared in the District “A” Magistrate’s Court Criminal Court No 2 this afternoon to face the charge of murdering Shakem Turton on Wednesday.
His lawyer, Hal Gollop QC who is appearing in the matter with attorney-at-law Steve Gollop, asked Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to consider remanding the youngster to the Government Industrial School (GIS) given his age.
The request was denied because Gobin was 16 and the GIS in St Philip would not take him. The student turned 16 on July 21.
Without delving into the facts, the lawyer also said that the incident was “unfortunate”, “heart rending” and pointed “towards something that was not intentional”.
