A ST MICHAEL COMMUNITY has been thrown into a state of mourning and anger over the tragic death of a teenager allegedly at the hands of a 16-year-old neighbour.
Neighbourhood sweetheart Shakem Romario Turton was found dead in the early hours of yesterday at his Long Gap, Spooners Hill home, after police said he was “struck several times and wounded” in an altercation with another youngster the previous day.
When a NATION team arrived on the scene, residents were gathered in nearby houses looking on as news spread of the 18-year-old’s death.
Police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch said that Turton was involved in an altercation with another person. He was taken for private medical treatment and returned home. However, around 8 a.m., he became ill and died.
