SEISMIC ACTIVITY has resumed to the northeast of Barbados, with five earthquakes being recorded by the Seismic Research Centre in Trinidad and Tobago over the last two days.
Today, the Centre’s automatic earthquake location system recorded quakes at 2:53 a.m., 6:39 a.m. and 8:36 a.m., all within the same general northeast location off Barbados.
The early morning quake was 3.8 magnitude at a depth of 10 km, 139km to the northeast.
The second quake measured 4.0 at the same depth and the third was 4.1.
Yesterday, the system also recorded two 4.0 magnitude quakes at 1:28 p.m. and 4:39 p.m.
