Canteen owner fuming

TWO UNPLANNED and unwelcome dates with a health inspector have left a St Michael food truck operator steaming.

So upsetting were the encounters, said Mark Dates of Jamaica Grill Kitchen, that he is now convinced that the particular health official has an axe to grind with him.

However, a senior official of the ministry has intimated that the action of the inspector and the trouble of the canteen operator had to do with the fact that the permission he had to sell food did not cover the locations in which he had been operating.

Dates has a validly issued health licence from the Branford Taitt Polyclinic at Black Rock, St Michael, but was plying his trade in Christ Church on the two occasions he was confronted by the inspector, including his regular base of operation at Accra Beach, opposite the Blue Horizon Hotel. Selling in Christ Church requires permission from the polyclinic in the area.
