THE BARBADOS SECONDARY Teachers’ Union (BSTU) has launched a relief drive for teachers and students in Dominica.
President Mary Redman said they were “actively” engaged in securing assistance for their counterparts in Dominica. She is encouraging people to take school supplies, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, water, non-perishable food items and stuff that will be useful after a natural disaster to the union’s headquarters at the Patrick Frost Centre at the top of 8th Avenue, Belleville, St Michael, opposite the Barbados Stock Exchange.
The new school term starts for teachers at all Government schools today, and Redman said correspondence had been sent to all shop stewards so they could spread the word at their individual schools. She was hoping collections could be made at every institution to assist teachers and students in Dominica who have been affected by Tropical Storm Erika.
