OWNER OF TAPAS Restaurant Alfredo Giovine says he is considering stepping up security at his Hastings, Christ Church business after two masked men made off with the cash register last night.
Giovine, who received a blow to the head during the incident, is also worried about the impact the incident will have on tourism.
“There were around 80 people in the restaurant, two-thirds were tourists, so when they go back home, they will say they experienced a robbery. Tourism is our prime business and is based on our reputation – sand, sea and safety – but the sea is full of seaweed and we just got robbed. At least we still have sand,” he said.
The Italian who has been living in Barbados for more than a decade said at least one of the men had a knife and although he said they could have whatever they wanted, he was still assaulted.
Police are investigating. (CA)
