CONDE RILEY puts the recent disappointing performances by national youth cricket teams at West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) youth tournaments down to “slackness and neglect”.
In those three words, the current Barbados Cricket Board (BCA) vice president summed up the reasons he believes are responsible for the sharp decline in performances.
According to Riley, the slackness became apparent with the closing of the Centre of Excellence and also the recent management of the WICB tournaments.
“It is shameful that in the last year the Centre of Excellence has been abandoned,” said Riley.
“No age groups were selected; there were no youth trials so the youth selectors had no proper impartial basis to select the teams.
