DONALD TRUMP HAS DOMINATED mainstream and social media for the past few weeks as American political parties prepare to select their presidential candidates.
Many are baffled because he is still topping the polls. If we want to remove that baffled spirit we must awake to the awareness that all we need is inside of us.
As a Caribbean national following the Donald Trump phenomenon I am being reminded of themes, image and “letting go”. Letting go or releasing has much to do with leaving our comfort zone. If we avoid leaving our comfort zone we become miserable, live in fear or become sick and depressed.
For the last five years I was faced with the task of letting go of some people who professionally crossed my path. They commenced our encounter with false love and caused stagnation in my life. I now approach them with warm greetings but remain silent in their company. It has caused negative feedback but it is excellent change for my development. I am extremely proud of myself and will replace that lost energy by rejoining a Toastmasters club.
When someone or something is causing you pain and discomfort you have to leave if they or it is not treatable. Otherwise, your energy will be drained and you will go on the wrong path. I call those people spiritual vampires; they know what they are doing.
Furthermore, some readers of this column are yearning to let go of unhealthy foods and habits. They continue to ask for some healthier alternatives to macaroni pie, potato chips and lamb stew. As a trained food and nutrition teacher here are some choices/suggestions I would give to my students. You can add to this list.
BREAKFAST: Ginger tea, fruit salad, vegetable bakes, fresh home-made fruit juice, corn meal porridge, linseed.
LUNCH: Vegetable soup with whole wheat dumplings, stewed food and baked fish, lentil burgers and brown rice, steamed vegetables and lentil stew or a fruit shake.
DINNER: Soursop leaf tea, light vegetable broth, fruit smoothie.
Following up on my weight campaign I did cardio two hours daily and a spin class on Saturday. I did exercises to target my gluteus medius, gluteus minimus and my rectus abdominis (six pack). I also followed my protein, herbal tea and vegetable routine. I am like pharaoh and have hardened my heart against anything which may cause me to revert to negative thoughts and actions.
Finally, I encourage you to release or let go of all things or people who are stunting your spiritual growth. Also, try hard this week to locate some ripe jamoon fruit, which research shows are good to treat diabetes.
